Let There Be Light!
VH Gives Program VH Gives Program
Late last year, the students at Vernon Hills High School ran numerous events to raise money to buy MPOWERED Luci Solar Lights for their sister school in Uganda - our St. Jerome COVE Elementary School. They purchased 282 Luci Lights and gave them to Fr. Hilary to take back with him after he was here visiting in April. We're happy to report they arrived safe and sound!

A deep heartfelt thanks goes to the VHHS Director of Student Activities Deborah Beagle and staff member Deb Lehman along with the students of the VH Give Executive Board for this very special gift!

Seeds of Hope

Seeds of Hope This year's Seeds of Hope annual fundraiser, held on Saturday, April 21 in the St. Mary of Vernon Parish Center, was a great success! Guests enjoyed a delicious buffet dinner catered by the Italian Kitchen in Deerfield and were treated to live music from the very talented Vernon Hills High School Jazz combo. The celebration raised just over $14,000 plus another $17,750 to help purchase a much needed vehicle for the St. Jerome COVE campus.

Thank you to everyone that helped make the event such a success - our very generous donors, our great guests, and of course all our hard-working volunteers!

In Memory
A memorial mass for Fr. Hilary's mother, Bernadette-Liberata Nakate, was held Monday evening, July 2, 2018, 6 p.m. at St. Mary of Vernon in Indian Creek, IL. Fr. Martin Luboyera, Fr. Kasule, and Fr. Denis celebrated the Mass that was attended by friends of Fr. Hilary and COVE supporters, some of whom were lucky enough to have met Bernadette on their travels to Uganda. Bernadette was recognized for her devotion to her children, even in times of strife. Her kind spirit lives on in Fr. Hilary and all his good works. The collection that was taken after the service will go toward the building of Bernadette's grave.

Please continue to keep Fr. Hilary and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
